Surprise: Zoe Meets Lesley Garrett January 27th 2006
Linda tells us of the Great Day
What a day!
It was soooo hard to keep a secret for 1 whole week and arrange everything without Zoe knowing, especially trying to phone Sally from ITV Central New that we had arrived at the surprise destination! Zoe was completely shocked when she saw the Central News team on Westminster Bridge coming towards us and then telling her they had booked the London Eye for her birthday treat.
On the way to Westminster Zoë kept telling me that she shouldn't have time off school to check out Mencaps recording studio and that could have been done in half term, which of course I had no answers to!
It was so wonderful to see Zoe's face when she caught sight of Lesley Garrett, especially when she realised she was coming towards us to say hello, then the next I knew Zoe was in tears, she could not believe she was talking to her hero, the smile on her face was fixed and she just kept saying "I can't believe it!"
Eventually Zoe got over her shock and Lesley and Zoë got to sing together and it was amazing. Lesley has the most FANTASTIC voice and was very complimentary about Zoë and was completely amazed by what she had already achieved. All in all a great lady with a BIG personality and heart, I just can't thank her enough!!.
